Dr. Tracey Gendron

Dr. Tracey Gendron is the author of Ageism Unmasked: Exploring Age Bias and How to End It and serves as Chair for the Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Gerontology, and as Director for the Virginia Center on Aging. She is an internationally recognized gerontologist with almost 30 years of experience as a grant-funded researcher and speaks to audiences globally about the real world impact of age bias. Tracey has a Master’s degree in Gerontology, a Master’s degree in Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology

Dr. Gendron will be available for a book signing immediately following her talk on Monday, October 21. You may bring your own copy of Ageism Unmasked: Exploring Age Bias and How to End It for signing, or you will be able to purchase a copy from Bank Square Books, who will be on-site following Dr. Gendron's talk.

M.J. Tooey

M.J. Tooey, MLS, AHIP, FMLA, is the retired Dean of the Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HSHSL) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) where she also served as Associate Vice Provost. Additionally, Tooey was the Director of Region 2 of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM), and the NNLM Web Services Office. She has served on the Boards of the Medical Library Association (MLA) and the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL) and has been president of both of those national organizations. She is a Fellow of MLA and a Distinguished Member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals. Recipient of the 1997 MLA Estelle Brodman Academic Medical Librarian of the Year Award, she was also the 2016 MLA Janet Doe Lecturer, and in 2019 received the Marcia C. Noyes Award, MLA’s highest honor. She is devoted to her family, is an avid gardener, an enthusiastic traveler, and constant wine appreciator. Tooey’s goals are to learn patience, remember what is truly important in life, and not take herself too seriously. She met one of her life goals by not killing anyone before she retired.
