On behalf of the NAHSL 2020 Scholarship Committee, I have some very exciting news to share with everyone. As many of you may know, during our recent two-day, virtual conference, the Scholarship Committee hosted a donation match campaign. Conference attendees were encouraged to donate funds to three organizations: The American Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, and Feeding America. These three organizations were selected since they embody the spirit of taking action to provide aid to those in need. Additionally, NAHSL pledged to match up to $1000 in participant donations.
After reviewing the total number of donations, I am very pleased to share the fruits of our efforts with all of you. Let’s break it down!
NAHSL members donated a total of $1,165.00 in contributions over the course of the conference. Members either stipulated the organization they wished to donate to or, if they did not specify, their contributions were pooled into a general fund. The donations in this general fund were later divided and distributed equally among the three organizations. With NAHSL matching up to $1000 in donations, our total jumped up to $2,165.00. But wait, we’re not done yet! The wonderful members of the Massachusetts Health Sciences Library Network (MAHSLIN) kindly donated an additional $500 to our donation campaign. This brings us to our final grand total of $2,665.00! Below is the official breakdown of how our collected funds were donated:
Doctors Without Borders: $1,016.76
Feeding America: $956.76
The American Red Cross: $691.66
To everyone who donated, thank you. This donation campaign would not have had the success it did without your contributions.
For transparency, please refer to the included donation receipts from all three organizations.
