Welcome from the Chair

Greetings members and guests.

Brief Biography: I am the Health Sciences Librarian at Southern Maine Health Care, formerly Southern Maine Medical Center. (Southern Maine Medical Center/Biddeford and Goodall Hospital/Sanford merged on January 1st, forming Southern Maine Health Care.)  I work solo (read: all the blame but all the glory) and part-time.  In October I will have worked at SMHC for eight years.  I have an MLS from the University of North Texas and am a senior member of AHIP.  I am even a member of Beta Phi Mu.  Prior to becoming a librarian, I worked for the US Fish and Wildlife Service for ten years as a biologist and later, as a planner.  Before that, I worked for over ten years in the capacities of natural resource management specialist, planner, and park ranger for the National Park Service.  As SMHC's VP of Human Resources said when I applied here, my resume is “sort of different.”  I loved public service and bridging the gap between those who had the information and those who needed it.  To make a long story short, the leap was not as long as one would think.

I bring all of my skills to HSLIC to make this a fruitful tenure.  We have much to attend to – membership expansion and profession advocacy for starters.  Collectively we can surely strengthen HSLIC and our profession.  Onward!
