| Description | Research articles are the primary source of newly evolving health information. The consumer of this literature must become skilled in assessing the validity of the information being published. This workshop will provide an introduction for how readers can appraise the quality of such reports. This session is a guided workshop in the assessment of the validity of the assigned article. Participants are asked to read the assigned article and consider answers to the questions provided prior to the session. No previous experience in assessing the research literature is necessary. |

Knowledge Management (KM) provides the building blocks for the modern Healthcare Knowledge Management Center (HKMC). The HKMC is a model for hospital librarianship that was developed in the New England Region of the NN/LM. Mark Goldstein and Margo Coletti will provide an update on the region’s 5-year strategic plan, the “Regional KM Initiative,” including development of the HKMC Field Guide and the Pilot Sites. |

Now, more than ever, it is important for librarians to reach out beyond the limits of the library's walls to provide services to users. Finding new and innovative outreach initiatives can be elusive, however. Join in on the discussion as three creative librarians discuss successful outreach projects they have been involved in, and participate in conversations on how to come up with new and important outreach opportunities at your institution. |
