  • Wednesday, Mar 16, 2011: Professional Development Day for Area Science Librarians
Hoagland-Pincus Conference Center, 222 Maple Avenue, Shrewsbury, MA. Bring your own laptop. Registration $30 includes lunch.
Description: With the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and other major funding bodies requiring grant applicants to submit data management plans with their proposals, librarians see a new opportunity for education and support. To provide these services though, we need some new skills and training. Here's your chance to get started! This day-long workshop will provide an overview of eScience and its implications for research, background on the life cycle of data, and how librarians can insert themselves into the process of managing, preserving and making research data findable and accessible. The day will consist of lecture and hands-on, practical application through case studies and discussion.
